2025 George A. Nicholson, Sr. Memorial Scholarship
CRITERIA:
Deserving students who are interested in pursuing an education toward a career related to renewable natural resources (RNR), land use, and/or conservation. Academic achievement and participation in extra/intra curricular activities warrant consideration. Scholarships will also be considered for other agricultural related educational experiences. The Board of Supervisors will decide on the appropriateness of any requests.
Priority will be given to applicants pursuing an education (university, four-year college, community college, or vocational technical institute) in conservation or RNR. Other agricultural related majors of study will be evaluated on the merits of the application. Applicants must be residents of Frederick County, MD.
Application Requirements:
- A completed George A. Nicholson, Sr. Scholarship application (available online click here, by completing the form below, or at the Soil Conservation District Office).
- Two letters of recommendation (must be submitted with scholarship application by emailing to Kendra McAfee at kmcafee@fcscd.com)
- Transcript- High School or College (must be submitted with scholarship application by emailing to Kendra McAfee at kmcafee@fcscd.com)
Scholarship Details:
- Maximum aid is four years for any one individual. Applicants must reapply each year. The recipient may qualify for consideration in subsequent years upon submission of a transcript.
- Selection of scholarship recipient by the Board of Supervisors in final.
- The recipient is encouraged to voluntarily contribute to the scholarship fund upon completion of their program of studies.
- Scholarship of up to $1000.00 may be made each year.
DEADLINE: Completed applications must be received by the FCSCD office on or before April 11, 2025.
